Laval will host the 52nd Association des chefs en sécurité incendie du Québec Convention in 2020

12 March 2018

The City of Laval and Tourisme Laval are proud to announce that the 52nd Association des chefs en sécurité incendie du Québec (ACSIQ) Convention will be held on its territory in May 2020.

The ACSIQ is a non-profit organisation that brings together more than 1,000 sector managers divided over some 650 municipalities, industries and institutions across the province. Its mission is to promote and influence the management of risks in matters of emergencies in the field of fires, rescue services and civil protection.

“For the City of Laval, hosting this major event is a great opportunity to once again highlight the work of those that ensure the protection and security of citizens”, declared Marc Demers, mayor of Laval.

“The quality of life of the residents of Laval is at the heart of our commitments”, added Sandra Desmeules, councillor for the District of Concorde-Bois-de-Boulogne, member of the executive committee and responsible for files concerning public security. “It is supported above all by a feeling of security shared by the entire population. Fire protection is a key component, and it remains a priority across the whole city. Other cities in Quebec also share the same concerns”, concluded Mrs. Desmeules.

Thanks to the support of the City of Laval’s Economic Development Service, the 2020 edition of the convention will include a strong entrepreneurial aspect to create links between new companies and fire services in Quebec.

More than 1,000 participants are expected to attend the event – delegates, company representatives and other special guests, including well-known speakers. The economic spin-offs are estimated at $2 million for the Laval region.

“We are very happy to work with the City of Laval to host the 52nd ACSIQ convention in 2020. Business tourism an important sector and the hosting of events such as the ACSIQ convention is a great opportunity to promote our city and our know-how in hosting major business events”, affirmed Geneviève Roy, President and General Manager of Tourisme Laval.
