Condé Nast Traveler Readers have spoken: Québec City voted best destination in Canada

The readers of Condé Nast Traveler have spoken: in the latest edition of the prestigious U.S. magazine’s annual ranking, to be published in November, Québec City was voted 10th best destination in the world, 3rd best in North America and No. 1 in Canada.

“It’s a great feeling. Year after year, Condé Nast Traveler readers consistently give Québec City a top spot,” said Québec City Tourism board chair Pierre Tremblay. “It’s a team effort. The outstanding work of everyone in the tourism industry, all across the region, is what keeps us among the world’s very best tourism destinations.”

The top three international destinations were San Miguel de Allende, Mexico; Florence, Italy; and Budapest, Hungary. High Canadian performers were Vancouver (13th) and Victoria (17th).

Several Québec City hotels made the Eastern Canada top twenty list: Auberge Saint-Antoine (5th), Fairmont Le Château Frontenac (8th), Hôtel 71 (18th), and Hôtel Le Germain-Dominion (20th).

Condé Nast Traveler has been publishing its “World’s Best” Readers’ Choice Awards for more than 25 years. Categories include cities, islands, hotels, resorts, cruises, and airlines. In 2013 over 80,000 people voted in the “Cities” category, with winners ranked based on culture, friendliness, atmosphere, restaurants, lodging, and shopping.
