The WOW! effect arrives at the Delta

1 December 2016

In December of 2015, the Delta Trois-Rivières was purchased by four local entrepreneurs. One year later, the Société immobilière G3R has already invested more than $2.5 million in the modernisation of the hotel. By the fall of 2018, it will be expanded and a new convention centre will be added for a total investment of $48 million.

Le Nouvelliste got an exclusive look at the first exclusive model room at the Delta Marriott Trois-Rivières, just recently approved by Marriott on November 16. From January to May of 2017, all the current 160 rooms will go through the same change, as well as the hallways.

“We are very proud of our model room, characterised by perfect simplicity and which goes way beyond industry standards” affirmed the Vice President of G3R, Guylaine Déziel, visibly satisfied of the “modern and refined” results.

The changes are at the leading edge of technology. Among other things, guests will be able to enter their room with their smartphone. There will also be a 55 inch HD TV and, of course, free access to high-speed Wi-Fi.

“Each transformation element has been researched and is of very high quality. Each aspect is important. It is simple made perfect”, explained the President of G3R, Carl Gravel.

Hypoallergenic rooms without carpets, very high quality Simmons mattresses, rain-effect showers, real wood furniture with quartz surfaces, locally created works of art…these are some of the elements that caught our attention. “And 14 new suites will be added, including the St-Laurent Suite, which will simply take your breath away”, promised Mrs. Déziel.

Subsequently, the lobby and common spaces will be totally redone in the same spirit “with the goal of creating an experience based on perfect simplicity”.

According to the owners, 2017 will be a year of major transformation for the Hotel Delta Marriott Trois-Rivières, given the addition of other projects, including the expansion of the hotel, changes to the restaurant offer as well as the expansion and renovation of the new Centre d’évènements et de congrès interactifs (CECI). This work will start after the spring thaw and will coincide with the end of the renovation of the existing rooms.

By the fall of 2018, a second hotel with 80 rooms will be added to the CECI site. The future complex will have a 1600 seat room, a grand hall, a 7000ft2 ballroom and a pedestrian bridge to the Badeaux parking lot.

Since the purchase, G3R has ratified a 20-year management agreement with Marriott International, the world’s largest hotel chain with 1.1 million rooms divided across 110 countries and 30 brands. A new Delta logo was developed within the context of the integration of the Delta brand into the Marriott family.

“The logo’s new simplified design reflects our promise of providing our clients with a travel experience that is problem-free so that they can focus on what is important”, explained Mr. Gravel.

Up to today, the investments of more than $2.5 million will have allowed for the energy efficient upgrade of mechanical equipment as well as upgrading nine of the elevators “which are now faster and more comfortable”. And the complete transformation of the IT systems, they added, now allows for access to the “prestigious Marriott Rewards program”.

Asked to comment on other hotel projects in the region, including the one in District 55, the President of G3R sees the promoters more as collaborators than competitors, given that the a portion of the new convention centre’s clients will end up staying at other establishments.
